I've gone off fishing lately. I don't know why, but I just don't have the passion for it that I used to. I do still have a shed-load of nice tackle, masses of photos and many happy memories. Perhaps writing a blog will rekindle the old flame?
Because I mostly work outdoors, the necessity to to be out there on my days off, cut off from everyone else, has faded, but my rod-arm still twitches in my sleep.
In order to keep my enthusiasm high, I have come to a decision about how, when and where I will fish in future. I don't mind what species I fish for and I prefer to fish light but I will not fish
- in absolutely dreadful weather
- in ugly surroundings
- sitting down
- with people I don't like (i.e. most other fishermen)
So, if you are with me up to now, look out for a whole bunch of fishing stories and photos from my archive. These might include fly fishing for trout in the streams, lochs and reservoirs, river fishing for coarse fish, sea fishing around the world and bass fishing in the USA.
I'm looking forward to it. I hope you are too!
